What is a laptop?

Before explaining how to make a lap book step by step, it is important that you know exactly what it consists of. These are educational and interactive resources that are increasingly used in schools and education centers.

They are fold-out notebooks that allow children to interact with the contents inside. In this way, a kind of book full of envelopes with surprises and flaps with which to interact is created. However, they are much more than an element to learn, since they can become a perfect craft to turn it into a gift for friends or family.

It is a craft that offers infinite possibilities, and we are going to give you a series of ideas that you can take into account to be able to make with the little ones in the house.

Preschool Lap book

If you want to know how to make a step-by-step lap book for preschool, you should know that these notebooks are ideal for children to begin to understand the first concepts they learn in a nursery school. By this we mean its name, the hours of the day, the seasons of the year, and so on.

For its preparation we will only need a rectangular cardboard of about 60 x 35 cm; A3 cardboard in different colors; scissors; rule; and glue.

The steps to follow are those:

  1. First of all, you will have to measure 15 cm on each of the sides of the cardboard, to make a line and proceed to make a fold through it. In this way, a kind of notebook will be created that has a base of 30 cm and two flaps of 15 cm each.
  2. Now it’s time to fold two cardboards to get four equal rectangles and cut.
  3. On another of the cards you have to draw a large rhombus; and a semicircle is made on each of the faces. Then it is cut out and folded along the sides of the rhombus, so that there will be a kind of flower that is stuck in the center of the lap book.
  4. Now it is time to place a cardboard rectangle that is divided into three parts. Under each flap you can put surprises for the child.
  5. With the rectangles that had been cut beforehand, make some pockets and stick them on the sides of the book. In this case you will have to make sure that papers can be inserted inside.
  6. In addition, you can also make use of post-it that will make it possible for the little ones to stick adding the notes they want.

learning notebook

Knowing how to make a lap book step by step is also useful when learning some subjects, so it can be created to learn. Thanks to this system, knowledge and concepts can be better engraved and clearer in the minds of children. In addition, they can be applied for any subject.

To create it you will only need: cardboard of different colors; rule; scissors; glue; paper envelope; scrapbooking paper; string; mini forceps; photographs. Once all the materials have been gathered, you will only have to start with your creation:

  1. First, fold the cardboard so that you have two windows of the same size in front of you, opening in the middle.
  2. Depending on the subject for which the lap book is going to be created, you will have to give importance to the main element by placing it in the center of the cardboard. From that initial concept you will create the rest of the content.
  3. For this you can resort to the use of different elements such as string, paper envelopes, cardboard and images.
  4. Proceed to decorate each part of the lap book in a way that helps visual understanding.

Lap book with ideas to travel

A third option to consider if you’re looking to make a step-by-step lap book is to create a travel lap book. To create it you will only need a plan or map of the place to visit; large cardstock; printing machine; folios; glue; staples and tape

The steps to do so are as follows:

  1. First you must fold the cardboard to create two side windows. Then measure the central part of the lap book and cut out a piece with this size, to stick it on the top using tape.
  2. On a sheet of paper, you will have to print a table with boxes for population, language, currency…; and cut along the lines, as if they were flaps so that the children can write answers.
  3. Now create a small notebook with sheets of paper where you can stick leaves or flowers that you find during the trip.
  4. Include a map that serves to trace the route of the visit.
  5. Leave enough space to place a larger notebook so that the children can draw pictures of each place visited.
  6. Place an envelope or pocket to be able to put data about the places where you will stop during the visit.
