ancient tradition

Candles have a very long history dating back to the earliest civilizations. From the oil candles of the Romans to others that evolved and were made from extracts of plant origin, or those built by the Egyptians from branches covered in mud with ox or lamb tallow. For all these cultures they were used to illuminate, but also in different rituals.

Candles were used for a long time to ward off evil spirits, as well as gradually being used more and more on holidays like Christmas. With the discovery of oil in 1850, paraffin candles began to be manufactured; and then everything changed with kerosene and electricity. Instructions for making a scented candle

If you want to know how to make a scented candle, you must follow these steps:

  1. First you must heat the wax in the saucepan. Do it over moderate or slow heat, until it melts well. You can do it in a water bath and stirring with the spatula.
  2. Then, once the wax has cooled down a bit, it’s time to add a few drops of your chosen essence and colorant. You must be careful not to overdo it, since in this case the aroma that it will give off will be too cloying and strong.
  3. Once the above is done, it will be time to pour the melted, flavored and heated wax into the mold you have chosen. Before, remember to grease the base and the walls of the mold, for which you can use a drop of cooking oil.
  4. The next step is to attach the wick to the candle. to do this you must tie one end of it to the guide rod. This has a hole in which it is possible to thread the wick to take it to the other end of the mold.
  5. Then you will have to cut the end of the wick, always making sure to leave a piece above so that you can light it without difficulties.
  6. Now you will let the wax cool, in a process that can take several hours. If you want to reduce the waiting time, you can place them in cool places, away from the sun and in the dark.
  7. Finally, if you want to unmold your candles, you must turn the mold over and with small taps with your finger, detach it, preventing it from breaking.
