Instructions for making paraffin candles

If you want to know how to make paraffin candles, you just have to follow these steps:

  1. First you must melt the paraffin. To do this, you will introduce it into a saucepan and make sure that it becomes sufficiently liquid. To give you an idea, it should be as close to water as possible.
  2. With the help of a thermometer you will have to maintain control over the paraffin. This way you will know when it has reached its optimum melting temperature. At that moment it will be when you can add the coloring. It will be enough for you to use half a teaspoon, although if you add little by little you can reach the tone you want.
  3. Next you will have to add a splash of the essence that you prefer. After adding it, you must stir so that everything is mixed and perfectly integrated.
  4. Then you must pour the mixture into the mold. Keep in mind that paraffin releases a lot of residue, so it is advisable that you make your candle on a surface that is well covered with newspaper or plastic.
  5. After placing it on the mold, wait about 90 minutes. After this time, you will be able to unmold the candle and proceed to pierce it using the rod.
  6. After making a hole in the center with the rod, you will introduce a piece of wick a little longer than the candle. Then, once it is already inside, it is when you will have to cut what is left over.
  7. In this simple way you will already have made your own homemade paraffin candle. If you prefer, you can polish it using a nylon stocking or give it some type of decoration, even resorting to the use of some type of varnish. Here your creativity comes into play and the final look you want to give it.
